Financial Capacity Program

BFFS Financial Capacity Program 

BFFS Financial Capacity Program is a free and confidential service that offers extra assistance to clients who are referred in-house via BFFS Emergency Relief Program or BFFS Financial Counselling Program. Capacity Workers provide support to clients with complex issues by working alongside the client to provide advocacy, and coordinate community support services a client or their family may need.   

You may need support, for example if you are:  
  • Having difficulty paying utility bills or fines 
  • Have fallen behind in your rent or are at risk of homelessness 
  • Need support to set up bank accounts
  • Not sure what entitlements, concessions or grants that you may be eligible for to help with bills 
  • Want to strengthen your money management skills 
Trained Financial Capability staff can:  
  • Analyse and assess your financial situation  
  • Provide information about entitlements, concessions or grants you may be eligible for to assist with bills 
  • Provide financial literacy education to help strengthen money management skills
  • Develop a sustainable budget 
  • Support to negotiate payment plans or resolution for fines, utilities, phone services  
  • Provide options to clients on a range of issues such as, mental health or family support
